sometime we find it is difficult to understand foreign language. foreign language itself can be easily interpreted as the language other than our native language. for example, for me any language other than javanesse and indonesian language belong to foreign language. united nations acknowledge four or five languages (i forgot the detail) used as language in their forum. so, those five languagesย  maybe can be referred as international language. but, for most people, major foreign language is english language.

some job vacancies and scholarships require any applicants to have abilities to communicate by using foreign language. those abilities can be measured or quantified by using some test tools. the most popular test tool maybe the one named TOEFL. some other test such as IELTS and TOIEC.

confused about the differences between those kind of test…?? you will find the answer here

TOEFL : evaluates the potential success of an individual to use and understand standard American English at a college level. It is required for non-native applicants at many US and other English-speaking colleges and universities

TOEIC : measures the ability of non-native English-speaking people to use English in everyday work activities. The TOEIC was developed by ETS (Educational Testing Service) in the United States following a request from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Industry (MITI)

IELTS : a test of English language proficiency. It is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education Australia.
